Ceiba: scalable visualization of phylogenies and 2D/3D image collections
نویسنده
چکیده
UNLABELLED Phylogenetic trees with hundreds of thousands of leaves are now being inferred from sequence data, posing significant challenges for visualization and exploratory analysis. Image data supplying valuable context for species in trees (and cues for exploring them) are becoming increasingly available in biodiversity databases and elsewhere but have rarely been built into tree visualization software in a scalable way. Ceiba lets the user explore large trees and inspect image collection arrays (sets of 'homologous' images) comprising mixtures of 2D and 3D image objects. Ceiba exploits recent improvements in graphics hardware, OpenGL toolkits and many standard high-performance computer graphics strategies, such as texture compression, level of detail control, culling, animations and image caching. Its tree layouts can be tuned by user-provided phylogenetic definitions of subtrees. The code has been extensively tested on phylogenies of up to 55,000 leaves and images. AVAILABILITY AND IMPLEMENTATION A manual, datasets, source code (distributed under GPL) and binaries for OS X are available at http://sourceforge.net/projects/ceiba. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION Supplementary data are available at Bioinformatics online.

Advancements in multi - view processing for reconstruction , registration and visualization . Luca Benedetti
The ever-increasing diffusion of digital cameras and the advancements in computer vision, image processing and storage capabilities have lead, in the latest years, to the wide diffusion of digital image collections. A set of digital images is usually referred as a multi-view images set when the pictures cover different views of the same physical object or location. In multi-view datasets, corre...
متن کاملJoint Interactive Visualization of 3D Models and Pictures in Walkable Scenes
The 3D digitalization of buildings, urban scenes, and the like is now a mature technology. Highly complex, densely sampled, reasonably accurate 3D models can be obtained by range-scanners and even image-based reconstruction methods from dense image collections. Acquisition of naked geometry is not enough in Cultural Heritage applications, because the surface colors (e.g. pictorial data) are cle...
متن کاملObject based manipulation with 3D scenes in mobile environment
This paper deals with the problem of visualization of 3D scenes and navigation in them on mobile devices. A visualization technique that enables visualization and annotation of objects in a 3D scene on mobile devices is presented. This technique is based on transformation of the 3D scene to a 2.5D representation in 2D vector graphic. The input of the 3D scene is given in the VRML format and the...
متن کاملAutomated Image-based Procedures for Accurate Artifacts 3d Modeling and Orthoimage Generation
The accurate 3D documentation of architectures and heritages is getting very common and required in different application contexts. The potentialities of the image-based approach are nowadays very well-known but there is a lack of reliable, precise and flexible solutions, possibly open-source, which could be used for metric and accurate documentation or digital conservation and not only for sim...
متن کاملtipiX: Rapid Visualization of Large Image Collections
We present a novel approach for fast and effective visualization of large image collections in population studies. The key insight is to collapse inherently high-dimensional imaging data onto an interactive two-dimensional canvas native to a computer screen in a way that enables intuitive browsing of the image data. Increasingly, medical image computing research involves exploring large image s...
